Many companies engage in philanthropy. Few engage as uniquely as Rockford. Construction is a hands-on industry. We think that’s why our founder and employees are more inclined to roll up their sleeves and volunteer than just write checks. We encourage and empower employees to share time, treasure and talent – whether it’s through a Rockford corporate fundraiser or personally volunteering wherever they choose. In that way, the giving becomes exponential.
Rockford Walkers
Rockford has a walk team that raises money and participates in local walks for charitable causes. For the second consecutive year, 40 of the Rockford Walkers participated in the Walk to Cure Diabetes event to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Proudly the Rockin’ Rockford Construction team raised $15,617 for the cause.
Roofsit For Kids
General Trades donated its time, materials, and expertise to Clear Channel radio for the 2011 Roofsit for Kids fundraiser. During this local B93 radio station’s annual promotion, DJ Neal Dionne raised awareness of child abuse and neglect during air time, camped out in the structure built by Rockford’s General Trades on top of the Michigan Kenworth building, and collected more than $160,000 for local rescue agencies.
West Michigan Healing Field 2011
In 2011, National Patriot Day had special significance as it marked the tenth anniversary of the tragedy on 9/11. Rockford and many other community and business leaders donated their time and talents to planning a memorial to honor the victims of 9/11. Cannonsburg Ski Area was the setting for the West Michigan Healing Field memorial, proudly flying 3,200 flags in remembrance of each victim. The memorial was open to the public 24 hours a day for five days in September. The West Michigan Healing Field was one of the largest flag displays in the nation and drew visitors from other states and countries. The Healing Field was a remarkable experience for the community, with 100,000 visitors and more than $75,000 raised to benefit local First Responder organizations.
