About Rockford Diversity Plan

Internally, Rockford supports a diversified workforce through our Equal Opportunity Employment policy. We have staff actively involved in National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Reentry Resource Center (RERC), Grand Rapids Public Schools, Junior Achievement, City of Grand Rapids’ Monday Group, and the West Michigan Minority Contractor Association (WMMCA), among others, to help encourage future generations to pursue careers in construction or help mentor DBE businesses.

Our bidding process is designed to maximize local, diverse subcontractor inclusion. Rockford holds meetings with local, state, and national organizations, reviews bid packages and lists for DBE contractor opportunities, and explores joint venture opportunities among subcontractors. Rockford has helped to create several prime/sub joint ventures over the years. As one example of our commitment to diversity, Rockford created a joint venture with MFSS Contracting in 2008 known as Pride Builders Group. Pride is a minority owned contractor that is now serving clients both locally and across the Midwest.

Rockford has many procedures in place but continually looks for other ways to help support diversity. We are committed to supporting local, disadvantaged businesses, reflecting the diversity of the communities in which we build, and investing in a future generation of diverse construction leaders.
