Safety is measured in many different ways. Rockford looks to an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) to evaluate our subcontractors and our own standing in the construction community. A company’s EMR is based upon the frequency and severity of a company’s worker compensation claims.
Rockford’s EMR is consistently below 1.0, the industry average, due to our low number of claims and the lack of severity of our claims.
In 2007, Rockford received Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) highest level award on a regional level, the Safety Training Evaluation Process (S.T.E.P.) Platinum award. We are very proud of this recognition as one of Michigan’s safest contractors.
In addition, Rockford was honored to receive the ABC National Safety Merit Award for 2008. The ABC National Safety Merit Award recognizes companies whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee, and companies who exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety. This is a tremendous honor for Rockford and a true testament to the effectiveness of a full-time Safety Manager.
