Saint Mary’s Health Care – Wege Center and the Physicians Office Building

Summary

Project Details

Saint Mary’s Health Care’s Wege Center and the Physicians Office Building were part of a campus expansion project that began in 1998. The Wege Center houses advanced and alternative healthcare facilities including radiology, family practices, pharmacy, diabetes clinic, clinical labs, computer data center, and Grand River Endoscopy. The Physicians Office Building houses an organ transplant  clinic, pain clinics, and gastroenterology, oncology, cardiac testing, and rehabilitation centers. The lower level includes two linear accelerators and the Breast Center.

A complex tunnel system was built beneath the city street, connecting the new facility to the existing hospital. Rockford coordinated excavations and performed zero lot line construction without disrupting nearby medical facilities. Working with the local historical society, Rockford relocated a historically significant structure and moved the main power service while providing uninterrupted power to three healthcare facilities.

“Rockford Construction has been extremely responsive, has brought projects in within the established budgets, and has been creative in the construction process. We have been impressed by Rockford’s ability to hire aggressive, skilled, top-flight project manager talent which has brought an effective team to the construction site.”
