JW Marriott

Summary

Project Details

Alticor selected two highly respected architectural firms and two outstanding construction firms to build a 340-room hotel carrying the Marriott flag in downtown Grand Rapids. A joint venture between Rockford Construction and Pepper Construction Group of Chicago completed the project. The glass-enclosed and uniquely designed hotel is 24 stories tall. An adjacent 750-space parking structure is located on the hotel’s south side.

JW Marriott represents luxury lodging at its finest. Every design is unique and requires extensive collaboration between the architects and construction mangers to create such a sophisticated resort. Rockford Construction built a Model Room to the architects’ specifications in order to finesse the high-end finishes and test the lighting levels, quality of the millwork, and the level of detail down to the miter joints. The Model Room allowed the team to ensure the resort would be completed to the level of luxury JW Marriott’s guests have come to expect.

“We do appreciate the close, open, and trust-oriented working relationship that is in place between our companies. Rockford Construction earned this contract by showing what our project could be. Your efforts completely reinforces our decision to select Rockford to build the midwest’s first JW Marriott Hotel. Thank you. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you on the project.”
