Summary
Project Details
Rockford Construction is proud to have built Meijer’s first LEED certified store. This superstore features several LEED components and design features innovative to the big box retail industry, setting an example for sustainable design and construction approaches. The building was constructed on a Brownfield site so extensive site work, capping, and precautionary measures were closely monitored throughout construction.
The building’s interior was constructed with low VOC caulks, adhesives, and paints, as well as state-of-the-art electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems which contribute to energy efficiency. More than 85% of all construction debris was diverted from landfills through re-use and recycling. The superstore was LEED certified in 2007, becoming one of Rockford’s largest and most visible LEED projects in the state.
“Rockford’s team consistently demonstrated high integrity, a proactive outlook for upcoming issues, and simply a ‘can do’ attitude. I could rest assured Rockford was looking out for Meijer’s best interests and tackling the details on our behalf – I felt I truly had an advocate on-site.”
